Time warp in Cuba
13 December 2014
My father used to talk about going to Cuba in the early 1950s. He loved the cars back then and one of his favorite tales was about spending the day driving around Havana in an orange Buick Roadmaster convertible. Once Castro took over, car imports were banned, so most of the cars are from that era, even today. My husband and I went to Cuba three years ago and right in front of the National Museum was an orange Buick Roadmaster from the 1950's. The driver said it was the only orange car of that model in Cuba. I wish my father was still alive to see us sitting in the same car that he drove 60 years earlier. Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
