Singapore: A Golden Jubilee
21 June 2015
It is a bitter sweet 50th B-Day Celebration for Singapore as the nation mourns the recent passing of its founding father and first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew.
Coincidently, as I went on to mourn my own Father's recent passings; We, had went on to "Celebrate Life in Our Golden Years" in a very Personal Shangrila.
When we first traveled together to Singapore x21 years ago:
We, we're so very young and had attempted to "tour" and to link our Eastern and Western ways of our "Cultural Heritage."
Simultaneously, Singapore is a "Garden City" where the Skyline are a tribute to its "economic success" and where an Independent Island Nation sits astride seamless linking East and West.
The ultra-modern Skyline remains as a reminder to the traditional shophouses and skyscrapers stood tall along the Singapore River.
The revamped "Marina Bay River Area" is a mere stroll to the famous Singapore Merlion where "Singa" is the "Mascot."
Moreover, Marina Bay enclaves the Esplanade Park, F1 Race Track and The River Tour May be had to a nightly laser show highlighting the Marina Bay!
There is so much to see and to do in Singapore and getting around is so easy. The MRT is both efficient and comfortable and there's an abundance of metered Taxi.
The Island of Singapore is a shopper's paradise at the infamous "Orchard Road" in contrast to the lively "Lucky Plaza."
Beyond shopping, there are Jurong Bird Park with colorful world of birds; Singapore Zoo and the Night River Safary.
Seafoods are an all time favorite and the greatest Feast in the East. The ever popular Hawker's Center are at an abundance and here are the best of the best Fives:
1. Chinatown Complex Food Center
2. Old Airport Road Food Center
3. Maxwell Road Hawker Center
4. Tiong Bahru Market Hawker Center
5. Chomp Chomp Food Center
And let's not forget the best of the best Fives Satay in Singapore where I had my very first "sting ray" taste, wow!
1. Lau Pa Sat Satay
2. Chomp Chomp Satay
3. Chuan Keep Satay
4. Kwong Satay
5. Harmon Stay
To our heart's content; Our tranquil Oasis leads us back to the "Tropical Paradise" in our one-bedroom suite balcony at the Shangri-La Hotel.
We, rests our weary heads overlooking the "glistening pool" of Paradise on Earth echoing the soothing sounds of the water falling into a tranquil oasis in a constant motion...
as we mourn in silence and dream the "Suites' Dream" this Father's Day in Honor of My Father's R.I.P.
