Ode of a Travel Junkie
Travel..this is a one word that brings the yin and yang in everyone's heart. People travel for various reasons. Some of which are interesting others are not. Let's view it in different perspective.
Why people travel you may ask?
An adventurer reasons is to challenge oneself, to enjoy new experience, to know other language, to experience new things, and to understand other culture. True! Others travel to escape the reality of life and to forget the person who crashed their heart. The only way to escape is to go somewhere where no one knows who you were, and no one is going to ask.
People and media instill every young's mind to travel and see the world. Pictures paint a thousand words they say. But it could be nicer if you could experience it yourself. Right?
Me for instance is like others.. Living in another country, in another language. Which slowly adapts the culture that I used to call a home away from home. And there’s nothing wrong with it. It's part of the reason why I left in the first place. I wanted to grow, to change something, to experience the independent life in a new place where everyone is a stranger. It's a fulfillment of proving that I'm capable of taking the leap and landing softly at least once.
Looking through it, there is a certain amount of comfort and confidence that I gain with myself when I went to this new place ages ago. I simply look back and realize that so much has happened in my absence, that so much has changed. I find it harder and harder to start conversations with people who used to be some of your best friends, and in-jokes become increasingly foreign to me — I somehow become an outsider.
Reality speaking, When you live abroad, you realize that, no matter where you are, you will always yearn to go back. There will always be a part of you that is far away from its home and is lying dormant until it can breathe and live in full color back in the country where it belongs. To live in a new place is a beautiful, thrilling thing, and it can show you that you can be whoever you want — on your own terms. It can give you the gift of freedom, of new beginnings, of curiosity and excitement. But to start over, to get on that plane, doesn’t come without a price. You cannot be in two places at once, and from now on, you will always lay awake on certain nights and think of all the things you’re missing out on back home.
Yes! I am recently living in a fancy place, everyone wishes to live. But there is always a part in me that yearns to relax in the place I used to call my home.I can't wait to be back home. Holiday could be a worthwhile experience if I could spend it in Shangri-la Boracay. I only have it in picture.
