Hong Kong Handful
09 May 2012
With a long overdue family reunion while in frantic transit where and when would be the best place to meet for a quintessential upscale Hong Kong experience? We settled on a civilized Sunday afternoon tea at Island Gourmet in the Island Shangri La.
Now afternoon tea in my mind is a very refined and relaxing affair. A mountain of scrumptious tidbits served on elegant crockery by gracious friendly staff in beautiful surroundings. Well we got that. What I didn’t expect was that it would be TIRING. All thanks to this little fella: Cameron, 15 months- a perfect example of a cosmopolitan HK citizen: half HK Chinese, half Scottish, Complete handful. Mummy, friend and I did manage to catch up for mouthfuls of sandwiches and sweet treats between trips up and down the escalator (fun!) to listen to the string music in the Lobby Lounge and to watch mesmerized at the man playing the piano. But not quite long enough to relax. A very memorable afternoon in Hong Kong. (Cameron would have preferred a photo without his dummy but this was deemed his finest shot)
