A Vivid Sydney with Shangri-La Sydney
06 February 2015
Sydney is my favourite city in Australia to visit. I have stayed in various 5 stars hotels in Sydney. Shangri-La Sydney remains my favourite and most memorable.
My first stay in Shangri-La Sydney was in 2012. I was very impressed with my Deluxe Opera House City room that looks like a mini apartment. When I walked into the room, there was a mini lounge followed by a hall way. From there, I could see a marble bathroom and a bedroom. So with first stay, I realized my dream of staying in a Shang-rila hotel for the very first time.
The following year, I returned to Shangri-La Sydney for my second stay in conjunction with Vivid Sydney (a Festival of Music, Light and Ideas).
When I arrived at the hotel, I was met by a Guest Relations Manager. She told me that she was expecting me. She showed me to my room and later requested a bowl of fruits to be sent to my room. I was impressed by this excellent service.
I was also impressed by my Deluxe Grand Harbour View room and took many photos of the room and also the magnificent scenery.
One of my dreams is to see the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House from a hotel room. From there I could imagine how a fireworks display could be like at the stroke of midnight through to the next ten minutes to usher in the new year.
To realise this dream I would stay in a harbour view room at Shangri-La Sydney. On a beautiful sunny, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera would look like what I have imagined. If I am fortunate, I would be able to take some nice photos showing the Sydney Opera House with light projections on it during Vivid Sydney 2013. As it turned out, thanks to Shangri-La I did realized this dream. So in life, some dreams do come true.
Shangri-La Sydney is a perfect place to stay in Sydney if you are in Sydney for Vivid Sydney as most of the light projections is within Circular Quay (where Shangri-La Sydney is close to). The hotel is also well known for its Blue Bar on 36 and Altitude Restaurant (both located on Level 36). Needless to say to the scenery is amazing. I also like the lighting décor above the Lobby Lounge that looks like well-lit moons.
