The launch of “Postcards from the Heart” charity sales benefit the 5 Colours Foundation.
In a joint collaboration across mainland Chinese properties spanning Harbin to Haikou, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts launched “Postcards from the Heart” charity sales in its China properties to benefit the 5 Colours Foundation. The hotels aim to raise RMB1 million for the Chengdu-based non-profit organisation that supports disabled students, including survivors of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake and the 2010 Qinghai earthquake.
Established by renowned artist Zhou Chunya in 2009, the 5 Colours Foundation will use donations for the “Art for the Disabled Scheme” to help promote the artistic talents of the children in its educational programmes. 35 Shangri-La hotels in mainland China and Hong Kong are working together to raise funds by selecting pieces by students trained under Zhou Chunya to create the “Postcards from the Heart” set, which will be sold in China properties.
An artwork exhibition created by the foundation’s students will be showcased at Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu, the second year that the hotel has co-hosted an art exhibition organised by the 5 Colours Foundation. The artwork will be displayed on the hotel’s first floor until 28 February 2013.
Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu has worked with the 5 Colours Foundation since its establishment in 2009 as part of the hotel’s Embrace, Care for People project, and has organised annual gatherings, educational and charity fundraising events to support the foundation. The 5 Colours Foundation rallies art and social resources to raise funds for charity and currently supports more than 120 students.
