Visa-free China visits

Free Pass

For ease of travel and to encourage sightseeing, globetrotters stopping over in either Beijing or Shanghai for 72 hours or less now no longer require a Chinese visa to enter the country.

Effective since 1 January 2013, the new 72-hour visa-free transit programme allows citizens from 45 countries (including the US, Canada, Australia, UK and Singapore) to spend three days in transit visa free, provided that they have onward travel documents to a third destination and are landing at Beijing, Pudong or Hongqiao International Airports.

Lodge a request with the airline you’re flying with to see if you qualify.
