Two exciting Shangri-La hotel openings to start the year
The 337-room Shangri-La Hotel, Haikou on Hainan Island opened on 26 November 2012, offering sprawling tropical gardens, spectacular sea views and event and meeting venues. Venue highlights include the Hall of Splendour, set in a 30,000-square-metre tropical garden with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea.
In addition to well-appointed guestrooms and complimentary Wi-Fi, facilities include outdoor and indoor swimming pools, natural hot spring pools, a gym, tennis court and spa. An enticing array of restaurants include Italian seafood restaurant Sirena; lively Café Kool with its chef-manned cooking stations featuring an array of international cuisine, and Shang Palace serving authentic Cantonese and Hainan specialities.
The second property making its debut on 17 December 2012 was Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province, a 2,500-year-old city renowned for its beauty, history and culture, also marking the opening of the 35th Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts hotel in mainland China. The 369-room hotel overlooks the Mingyue Lake and sits amidst its own classic Chinese garden with poetic pavilions, pagodas and koi ponds.
Featuring spacious guestrooms; Horizon Club floor accommodations and private lounge; complimentary Wi-Fi and a Health Club with a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, fully equipped gym, tennis court and massage treatment rooms. Dining and entertainment options include Cafe Xiu, which features five interactive cooking stations serving international dishes, and the signature Shang Palace offering authentic Cantonese and Huaiyang cuisine.
