An exciting year for Shangri-La, 2012 was filled with a plethora of events around the globe. In August, Golden Circle members were treated to an exclusive wine tasting at Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo, where they had the opportunity to taste four New World wines and learn about each from wine ambassadors. In September, Michelin two-star Shang Palace at Kowloon Shangri-La celebrated its official reopening after a four-month renovation with a party to unveil its new look. Attended by celebrities, socialites, loyal hotel guests and the press, guests were treated to an evening of superb culinary delights prepared by Executive Chinese Chef Mok and his team, and had the opportunity to explore the restaurant’s new wine cellar, grand private dining room and upgraded facilities. Guests took home a unique souvenir of chopsticks engraved with Shang Palace and the reopening month and year in Chinese characters.
Keen to promote sports and wellbeing, Kerry Hotel Pudong, Shanghai invited Golden Circle members to the first Kerry Kup Golf Event at the Agile Binhai Golf Club in Shanghai in November. This marks the second year of the resort’s efforts for ARC Children’s Centre, who raised SGD100,000 in 2011, and the seventh consecutive year that the resort has held a charity golf tournament. Held on the Sentosa Golf Club’s Serapong Course, 120 golfers, including Singapore Golden Circle Diamond members, participated.
