Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts increase presence in Australia
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has acquired and assumed management of the hotel currently operated by Holiday Inn Brisbane. From 7 August 2012, the 191-room property located above the Brisbane Transit Centre and next to Roma Street Parklands, will be the first Traders hotel operated by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Australia. Hotel's highlights include large spacious guest rooms, convenient Lobby business kiosk, a total of seven meeting rooms featuring a Ballroom for 500 guests, large pre-function area and outdoor terrace, modern Australian all-day dining and bar, and rooftop fitness studio complete with relaxing whirlpools.
Following the group’s recent acquisition of the 563-room landmark Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney and its current majority stake in Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina in Cairns, Traders Hotel, Brisbane will mark the hotel group’s third venture in Australia. As the country’s third most populated city, Brisbane is a key gateway to other major Australian cities for the Shangri-La group, who have a long-term vision and commitment to the region. After China and the US, Australia represents the third largest market for Shangri-La, forming a substantial membership base of the Golden Circle loyalty programme’s worldwide network of 2.2 million members.
