Past to Present
Summer Twilight in the Eternal City of China
The immaculate gardens of Shangri-La Hotel, Xian provided picturesque surroundings for a delightful summer’s evening. Dressed in traditional Chinese costume, Golden Circle members sampled a delectable menu created by recently appointed, Hong Kong native Chef Chow at the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant in the West Lobby.
China’s ancient capital was recreated for the soiree, its theme a journey from past to present. The foyer of the Tian Xiang Ge restaurant was decorated to resemble historical Xian, adorned with ancient artefacts, calligraphy, traditional musical instruments and stalls serving ancient street food.
The outdoor garden was transformed into a battlefield complete with warriors, war flags and drums. Guests indulged in a sumptuous Tian Xiang Ge feast comprising chicken soup with black truffle; stewed mandarin fish, sautéed abalone and Fujian fried rice, while listening to war stories of China’s eternal city.
