Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts hosted an array of gastronomic delights and memorable music performances
Last year ended on a high note with a host of noteworthy events for Golden Circle Diamond members taking place at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts around the world.
Shangri-La Hotel, Guangzhou hosted the Gourmet Indulgence event featuring a cocktail reception and alfresco dinner in the hotel garden. The award-winning culinary team designed a five-course menu, which included the Kaiseki starter at Nadaman; Buddha Jumps Over The Wall soup at Summer Palace; roasted salmon and lobster Penang curry at coolThai and braised Wagyu short ribs at il Forno.
The wining and dining didn’t end there with an equally indulgent night at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur with an eight-course wine degustation dinner by Chef John Nash, Chef de Cuisine of Restaurant Lafite on 7 December 2011. The cocktail reception and culinary extravaganza provided networking opportunities for members residing in Malaysia.
A special treat of the musical kind was in store at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, who co-hosted an intimate concert with Lufthansa German Airlines on 15 November 2011. Accomplished Swiss pianist, composer, singer/songwriter and child prodigy Rachel Senn, gave a classical performance for an audience comprising more than 120 guests.
Over in Tokyo, 24,000 Japanese fans of The King of Pop attended a tribute held at Yoyogi National Stadium on 13-14 December 2011. Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo co-sponsored the Michael Jackson Tribute Live Concert, featuring three of the Jackson brothers, Macy Gray, famous Japanese singer AI, Toshinobu Kubota.
